Q: What does the Development Trust do??
[+]
A. The Development Trust's aims are to strike a balance between economic, social and environmental issues affecting the Marlborough area and to ensure that it is a vibrant, successful and pleasant place to live, work and visit; both now and in the future. To try to achieve this we initiate and carry out projects that support the economic infrastructure of the area and the management of our environmental, cultural and heritage facilities.
Q: So what examples are there of recent projects that the Development Trust has been involved in?
[+]
A. Both the Community WiFi and Makerspace projects are examples of on going projects that the Development Trust has initiated and continues to develop.
Q: How is the Development Trust funded?
[+]
A. The Development Trust is a non-profit-making organisation with no regular sources of income and no affiliation to any political or lobbying organisation. All work carried out by the Board and Members is done entirely on a voluntary basis. Funding is sought for individual projects from various grant issuing bodies and each project helps to support the very modest operational overheads of the Development Trust.
Q: What contribution do Members make?
[+]
A. As a private company limited by guarantee, at a legal level Members act as guarantors for the company but are liable for just £1 should the company fail and go into administration. However much more importantly we only seek Members who want to play a pro-active role in the initiation and development of projects that we decide to undertake. See Development Trust Membership for more details.
